Read this post again, friends. You’ll understand why.

Just another example why I write. Every day, I write. It’s because of miracles like this. Say hello to my niece, born today, November 7, 2008. Hello.

One day she’ll grow up and see a book in the store with her uncle’s name on it.

Surpassing the Illusion: Michael Crichton

“Books aren’t written - they’re rewritten. Including your own. It is one of the hardest things to accept, especially after the seventh rewrite hasn’t quite done it.”

“In the information society, nobody thinks.
We expect to banish paper, but we actually banish thought.”

“They are focused on whether they can do something.
They never think whether they should do something.”

“We all live every day in virtual environments, defined by our ideas.”

 *****************************************************

To a man who has surpassed the illusion…. For a man who has always charmed us into thinking…”what if?” His spirit to question every single question, to think through every thought of mankind, to dare to dream but still plant feet firm on reality…. To reach the essence of what it means to have an ambition, a curious delight, a wonder, and to always remember respect for that wonder, that power, that discovery…. To never abuse it….

Thank you, Michael Crichton, for all your wonders.

Rest in peace, Michael.
