The Writer’s Block Shootout (A Comment on Dyer’s “Writer’s Funk”)

Once again, H.L. Dyer, you never cease to amaze me with your illustrations and examples to convey an idea. Superb. Simply superb. You nailed it for me with that post and video clip of “Ghostbusters II”. Slime Square, baby!

Needless to say, readers, Dyer’s post hath spurred me to brainstorm about another way, a cheery way, indeed, to squash the tiny rebellion and infestation that we have come to know as Writer’s Block (or as those beautiful bunch of women, the blog chain, states, the “Writer’s Funk”). Allow me to illustrate, friends. Lend me thy eyes….

Now, children. I shall illustrate. The security guards and their bullets are the nasty little Writer’s Funk (Writer’s Block) Germies. The lobby is your ‘project’. YOU…are the manifestation of Neo and Trinity. Beating the living HELL out of Writer’s Block and tearing apart the lobby (writing out your novel in blazing speed and precision).

You are invincible. You are gods of the written word. You are. The One.

Paperwork Done, Future Waiting

Published by roustan under Uncategorized Edit This

A few minutes ago, I turned in all my paperwork at the Navy recruiting center. It’s done. We’ll see what God decides for me.

Later on tonight, I’ll see if I can post something else for all of you, but come tomorrow, I’ll be in Lansing in a hotel–with just my phone. Freak Quincy and Chuck Stake will keep you guys company. Maybe. If you’re lucky.

Otherwise, pray for me. Wish me luck for my physical and testing. This is the Wretched Writer Pierre Roustan saying…. TACO SUPREME.

A Tribute to True Words: God Bless MLK

If there ever was a point in time where words stood like ancients, robed in gold, with their scepters of thunder–immortal, undying, never needing, all-knowing, all-powerful–it is this time right now, in this video clip. I salute the essence of truth. The truth in words. They’ll always echo inside us–even when we pass into the next life with God. We bring it with us. We’ll be judged and praised by it. We leave that power of truth with those we’ve taught, our sons, our daughters, our grandsons, our granddaughters. They, too, will apply that power of truth in their lives, making this world as strong a place as possible–where there will always be a strength against anything darkness, anything that’s meant to cut out goodness. Our next generations will stand up and defend that goodness. Because we’ve taught them the words they need to know. We taught them the fire that needs to exist inside their minds. We showed them the most important truth–being human.

This is a tribute of tributes. Remember him. Remember his words. Remember Martin Luther King Jr.
