Writing and Reading

Quick post here, and an uplifting one:

Friend and colleague, fellow fiction writer Mary Lindsey is, as far as I know, still unpublished but also writes very prolifically. She writes other projects avidly–as all writers must do.

However…she is no longer just a prolific writer among the literary landscape….

She has now stepped into the absolutely freakish world of Hollywood and television!

Just to give you all an idea of how ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN in the literary industry, check this:

Mary’s YA urban fantasy entitled SOUL PURPOSE, book 1 of The Intercessor series, although as of yet still unpublished was just picked up by an independent film company to be shot as a prospective television series! For Real. That’s in Capitals, Yes. FOR. REAL. One more time for the books here, maybe I’ll add the good ol’ ghetto ‘Z’ at the back end of that…. FOOOOOR REEEAAALZ. Word.

You’re rockin’, Mary. Congrats!

This post is twofold: one, as an homage to the wonderful Nathan Bransford and his remarkable positivity week he just began, and my friend L.B. Goddard; and two, recent developments in my detailed, intense and enterprising career as an aspiring writer of urban fantasy/thriller/horror.

Yes, the future looks fun to me. This especially coming from the dark likes of the goddess L.B. Goddard! (again, yes, I’m talking about you, Linds!) That’s something I can always look forward to, you know? The likes of her, working with her on the eventual publication of THE CAIN LETTERS…. and CHIMERA FALLS…. And so on and so forth (little ‘teaser’ here…book 3 of this ’series’ involving my ever-loving MC Alexandra Glade will be entitled MALUMUNUS). She is a wealth of resources regarding publishing, and the power of self-publishing and e-books and the overwhelming flood of fire that can be called ‘free distribution’ (don’t know if I’m just coining that phrase now, taking a cue from Nathan on his posts about the positive future outlook of publishing).

Yes, the future looks fun indeed for books and for the prospects of publication for my labor of love, my joy. SOON the mystery and darkness that is THE CAIN LETTERS will be revealed for all…. Soon….

But also on other news regarding the career as a writer I have bravely began so many years ago, we have Facebook! That’s right, Facebook.

April Robins (look her up on Facebook, seriously, she is a darling in the literary industry, I assure you) began a group called the “Red River Writers”, which dedicates itself to promoting authors, published and unpublished and self-published. I am a ‘member’ of that group.

To make a long story short, April has begun what can be called a “blog tour” for books. Or maybe we can call it a “Blog/Book Tour”. Or a “Blogook Tour”  (someone stop me before I get a hemorrhage in my head). We’re talking a HUGE number of writers and such participating in this massive tour online, which means, dear readers….

That you may see the Wretched Writer lurking

on other featured blogs, ranting with the best of them!

Even better, in the near future, there will be guest bloggers–authors who will have my esteemed honor of having them on my site for things like interviews, featured articles about anything regarding genre, writing tips and questions and discussions–anything!

Imagine that–guest bloggers from within the literary industry. Ranting in my house . Oh, good ol’ Freak Quincy and Chuck Stake will need to step outside. Time to clean. Make everything look pretty. Spiffy. And I will most definitely need to set up the buffet!
