It Never Occurred to Me….
TO POST MY VERY OWN QUERY.
Seriously, all this time, every single one of you have been probably asking the questions, “what the hell is this CAIN LETTERS thing he keeps talking about?” and “he keeps talking about this CHIMERA FALLS sequel, and what is that?” and “I wonder if he likes gorgonzola cheese over limburger cheese?”
Questions, questions, questions.
And so far, I gave no answers save the several sketches I’ve posted of some of the characters belonging to my urban fantasy thriller THE CAIN LETTERS. Please forgive me. It was most definitely not my intention to shut you all out of the labor of love that is my work, my daydreaming, the story of a raging, righteous woman, a vampire hunter. Named Alexandra.
I will then also reiterate the stats and status of my novel: in that the full manuscript is still currently out for consideration by one agent in New York. For a very long time (I’ll keep the exact timeframe hush hush so as not to freak out other writers about what they’re up against regarding what I lovingly call “Query Hell”). The other agent, from Oregon, has the first 100 pages; and I’m still waiting to hear back on the prospects of reading the rest of the manuscript. That’s where I’m sitting at, people. Two agents. And a mound of queries–many rejected, many no response.
But for your reading pleasure…to give you a taste of what this novel is all about….
Here’s my query.
====================================================
The dark origin of vampirism has lurked since the beginning of time beneath the clouded eyes of the world. Until an ancient book surfaces, uncovering a sinister secret the Bible never revealed—Cain’s hidden lair and his hellish awakening.
Genesis 1:15. And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. The Bible, however, never reveals Cain’s deal with the devil, becoming the first, most powerful vampire to walk the earth. As ‘father of the damned’, Cain would become a target for other vampires wanting to kill him for his power. If they had that book.
THE CAIN LETTERS is a 74,000-word urban fantasy thriller featuring Alexandra Glade, a fierce God-fearing vampire hunter who must do the unthinkable: protect Cain to save humanity. For any human can slay Cain and face the wrath of God sevenfold; but a vampire, a monster that has become the evil of all mankind, will throw the wrath of God onto the world.
The book targets an audience hungry for the thrills and intensity of a dark vampire novel as well as depth in philosophy and faith. Terry Goodkind, Stephenie Meyer, J.K. Rowling, Elizabeth Kostova and Andrew Neiderman are some of my influences.
Thank you for your consideration. The full manuscript is available, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Pierre Roustan
